Dear colleagues,
below a case by Dr. Antonis Chaniotis showing the amazing potential of Endodontics. This case stresses the importance of irrigation of the apical third during retreatments.

Illustrations:
Fig 1 – Preoperative periapical and clinical image. Primary endodontic lesion in a 20years old patient. 2 buccal sinus tracts. No history of trauma but the patient used to have a lower lip piercing that used to bite.
Fig. 2 – Pre-op buccal probing. Over 8 mm pocket depths up to the teeth apices.
Fig. 3 – 2nd visit retreatments with calcium hydroxide interim dressing. Apical third disinfection by using combination of apical negative pressure and PUI (passive ultrasonic irrigation).
Fig. 4 – 5 months recall radiograph. Notice the lateral POE in tooth 31.
Fig. 5 – Post-op clinical image with no probing depths.
